After desoldering everything, the next step was to identify all the
components.
A few of these items have industry-standard part numbers on them. To
learn what they were, it was just a matter of searching the
manufacturer's web site to find the appropriate product data sheet.
Other items have Ford-specific (proprietary) part numbers and there was
no information available as to what they were, necessitating extensive
testing of the components, both out of the IDM in test circuits and in
the IDM with it running and firing injectors to capture the input and
output waveforms with an oscilloscope.
In the bottom row, the 5 devices with the mounting holes may look
similar (Industry-standard TO-220 case size) but they are 5 very
different devices, and only one had a useful part number on it.
A closer view of some of the smaller items...
And a really, really close view of some of the smallest components.
"102" is a 1000 Ohm resistor,
"1910" is a 191 Ohm resistor.
"VA3" is a capacitor.
Try to figure out what a "G1 x" or "2L c" is, and
who makes it. ;)
