IDM TESTING & REPAIR

The first step in "reversing" it was  removing the IDM from its case.

The square blocks with the numbers on them are the main capacitors that store power for firing the injectors.

The tall silver rectangles are heat sinks for the various high-voltage switching transistors, which are held on by spring clips. The holes in the heat sinks are for screws that fasten them to the base of the IDM case, which acts as a radiator.

Virtually every single component was desoldered, until just the bare boards were left.
